To celebrate Holy Week this year, I wanted to remind everyone that it is through Christ alone that we can have salvation and be saved from the destruction that we so deserve.
In Christ Alone is one of my all-time favorite hymns. It was written by Christian songwriters Keith Getty and Stuart Townend in 2001. They intended it to be a Christian credal song for belief in Jesus Christ.
It truly tells the story of our Lord and Savior and how He overcame death to restore our hearts to God, our Father in Heaven. “In Christ Alone, my hope is found.” From those first lyrics, you are pulled into this inspiring song.
Here is a list of my Top 5 favorite covers of the hymn.
Number 5: Passion
Number 4: The newsboys
Number 3: Lauren Daigle
Number 2: Anthem Lights
Number 1: Owl City
As a bonus, here are the original writers performing the song with its Celtic roots:
This Holy Week, as we approach Resurrection Sunday, let us remember that Jesus is alive. He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. He deserves all of our hearts and all of our worship. To me, In Christ Alone perfectly captures the love that He had for us. It is about love. Boring intellectualism or feckless platitudes won’t save you. Jesus will.
