‘The Ministry Of Ungentlemanly Warfare’ Review- A Bloody Good Time
This film debuted in 2024.
The Ministry Of Ungentlemanly Warfare is a World War 2 action comedy film directed by Guy Ritchie, who co-wrote and co-produced it. Jerry Bruckheimer also co-produced it.
As the United Kingdom struggles against the Axis Powers in 1941, SOE commander M (Cary Elwes) wants to initiate Operation: Postmaster to sabotage the U-boat fuel supply system. He recruits Gus March-Phillipps (Henry Cavill) to man the ground team, which includes Anders Lassen (Alan Ritchson), Geoffrey Appleyard (Alex Pettyfer), Freddy Alvarez (Henry Golding), and Henry Hayes (Hero Fiennes Tiffin). Meanwhile, SOE agents Majorie Stewart (Eiza González) and Heron (Babs Olusanmokun) work to distract the Nazi Commander Heinrich Luhr (Til Schweiger) at the West Africa harbor.
When I saw the trailer for this movie, I read the names of Henry Cavill, Jerry Bruckheimer, and Guy Ritchie as they came up on the screen. Instantly, I knew that I wanted to see this movie. Three big film industry names. An action comedy set in World War 2. Nazis getting blown up. Oh yeah, let’s do it.
Guess what? I was not disappointed.
This movie is awesome! I was hooked from the very beginning. It has an amazing cast, a thrilling plot, and a killer soundtrack. These all make it a bloody good time, as they say across the pond.
First of all, the casting is perfect. Everyone does an amazing job in their respective roles, and with Cavill being at the forefront, it could not go wrong. He did a fantastic job as the leading man and portrayed Gus excellently.
The rest of the cast is just as good. Their chemistry and repartee helped make the film enjoyable. They delivered the lines with ease, and the conversations flowed smoothly.
As I mentioned above, I was very impressed by the soundtrack. The award-winning composer Christopher Benstead took it on, and he did an awesome job.
I also loved how Ritchie put the story together. He does not try to preach or lecture to you. It is a straight-up action comedy set during the Second World War. I appreciate how he made it all come together with a cherry on top. You will not be disappointed if you dive into the story.
Bottom line, The Ministry Of Ungentlemanly Warfare is exactly what you are looking for if you enjoy action comedies. It has a fantastic cast, a compelling story, and keeps you on the edge of your seat.
PARENTAL CONCERNS: Strong foul language, Brutal and sometimes bloody violence
