‘The Lincoln Lawyer’ Season 2 Part 2 TV Review- Return To Court
This TV show streamed in 2023
Netflix brings us to part two of the second season of their courtroom drama The Lincoln Lawyer. returns for a second season, with Netflix releasing it in two parts. This season is based on novelist Michael Connelly’s The Fifth Witness.
Trial lawyer Mickey Haller (Manuel Garcia-Rulfo) is in the hospital after being assaulted in his parking garage and has a file on his client Lisa Trammell (Lana Parrilla) stolen. She is a chef accused of murdering a real estate developer who had a relationship with Mickey early on.
As the trial approaches, his paralegal Lorna Crane (Becki Newton) and investigator Cisco (Angus Sampson) prepare for their wedding, and his driver Izzy (Jazz Raycole) plans to open a dance studio. Making things more complicated, his ex-wife Maggie McPherson (Neve Campbell) plans to move, and DA Andy Freeman (Yaya DaCosta) offers no mercy for him in the courtroom.
In my review of part one, I mentioned how the female characters were a bit insufferable. They actually toned it down for the remainder of the season so it was a bit more bearable. I was glad about that as it made the show a lot more enjoyable.
I also enjoyed the court case overall. Some of the subplots, like Mickey’s mother rolling into town, did not feel in sync with the rest of the show. That being said, Freeman was an opposing opponent who had beaten Mickey several times before and she proved to be an opposing figure to him in the series. Their head-to-head was a major factor in the enterainment value of the show and it delivered on that level.
