‘Terror On The Prairie’ Review- Gina Carano Is Uncancelled
This film was released in 2022.
Terror On The Prairie is a Western thriller film directed by Michael Polish. It is produced by Dallas Sonnier and Amanda Presmyk for the production company Bonfire Legend. It is streamed via DW Entertainment and released internationally by Voltage Pictures.
Hattie McAllister (Gina Carano) lives with her husband Jeb (Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone) on the prairie with their young son (Rhys Becker) and newborn child. With a harsh winter incoming, Jeb heads into town to get supplies and find some work. While he is away, Captain Miller (Nick Searcy), along with his mates “Long Hair” (Tyler Fischer), Mr. Gold Teeth (Heath Freeman), and the Kid (Gabriel-Kane Day Lewis) arrive asking for water. When she finds scalps on their horses, she tries to force them to leave, but the Captain and his gang lay siege. This forces Hattie to use her wits to stay alive and protect her kids.
Gina Carano is officially uncanceled. Mainstream critics will either smear this movie or pretend it does not exist, much to their detriment. Carano is brilliant and definitely drives the movie with her portrayal of Hattie. She is different from her other roles, which really shows how versatile she is, and she delivers on every level. Her fans will not be disappointed.
I can say the same for the rest of the cast. Nick Searcy delivers as the chilling antagonist. He is brilliant and knows how to wear a cowboy hat. The same goes for the other actors who pull out their skills to bring us some intrepid acting.
As for the plot, it pulls you in. There was one or two scenes that lingered just a bit too long, but other than that, I thought it chilling. It shows the brutality of the West and does not hold back on that. They also highlighted the beautiful scenery of Montana, where it was shot. If you are a fan of Westerns, particularly modern Westerns, I think you will enjoy it a great deal.
The movie does not overstay its welcome. A lot of indie films want to try to elongate the plot, but they keep it tight and precise, allowing for it to flow along.
Bottom line, Terror on the Prairie is a sleek thriller that capitalizes on its talent to deliver one excellent film. It goes without saying that it is good to see Gina Carano back in business.
