Sledge X: Human League’s “(Keep Feeling) Fascination” Cover Music Review
This cover song was released in 2024.
From Bronze Serpent Media comes Sledge X’s cover of the Human League “(Keep Feeling) Fascination.” While the original is more of a synth-pop song, frontman Alfonzo “Zo” Rachel puts a rock twist to it.
Zo hammers out the song with an epic drumbeat and not one, but two guitars. I usually always give a disclaimer that cover songs are not as good as the originals. This one is an exception. Granted, synth-pop is not really my musical taste, but rock, especially the way Zo performs, is definitely it. He nails this cover and improves it with his unique style.
Rock music is so full of sellouts these days. You got guys who once sang, “fight the power” now singing “feed the power.” Not so with Zo. Yes, I am aware of that rhyme. Nonetheless, Zo is among those who are still bringing us some solid rock by reviving these jams from “back in the day” as he says.
Check out the music video review:
Human League lead singer Philip Oakey, “The aim of the video is to show that we’re a group who play music together … This should help us in America where they believe we are a manufactured item mainly because we’ve never been live on TV there.”
They released it as a single in 1983 before being released on their similarly titled ‘Fascination’ EP album. It was co-written by Oakey and guitarist Jo Callis.
