Sledge X: Brick’s “Ain’t Gonna Hurt Nobody” Music Review
This cover song was released in 2023.
Sledge X delivers a rock version of the funk band Brick’s song “Ain’t Gonna Hurt Nobody.” The original version of the song was released in 1978, but thanks to my man Zo, it has a head-thrashing new edition.
First of all, I love the song’s intro. With crashing drums and epic guitar riffs, it pulls you in right off the bat. You definitely want to bob your head along as we are led into the song’s first verse and into the chorus. As for that, Alfonzo Rachel knows how to bring on the beats. Using his skills with the sticks and the strings, he becomes unstoppable when he is in this mode.
When it comes to turning funk into rock, Zo is one of the kings. This one is perfect to download for listening while you work or for pumping iron. Definitely give it a listen as it pays homage to a classic funk single.

Brick was known for playing Jazz, Funk, and their own subgenre they referred to as Dazz, which combined Disco and Jazz. Their song titled “Dazz”
When it was released, “Ain’t Gonna Hurt Nobody” reached #7 on the Billboard R&B Chart and #92 on the Billboard Hot 100 Chart. While the song did not receive any awards, it would go on to have a massive legacy in the music industry.
