No, We’ll Call You is a humorous web series of twelve shorts starring sketch comedian Nikki Howard, which she wrote, directed, and starred in. It features a host of web comics joining in.
Nikki’s agent approaches her about doing a comedy pilot, but reveals she has to get a writing partner. Speaking with her friends, Victoria Renee Hand and Brent Pella, she goes through several trials and misfires, but remains steadfast in her quest to find the perfect writing partner.
Howard has excellent chemistry with the cast of this web series. They all work very well together, and you can tell there is a lot of love within that web comic space. They all had different ranges and played exaggerated versions of themselves, and played off each other well.
JP Sears is one of my favorite online comedians, so it was a real treat to see him in the third webisode. I also thought Mickey and Wyatt’s episode was top-notch as well. The two of them played off each other well, showcasing their dynamic duo style of humor.
If I could nitpick one thing, it would be that sometimes the microphone clipped when dialogue was happening. That became a bit distracting at times when she would be talking to another actor or actress. It was not in every episode, but when it was there, it was obvious.
Outside of that, this is a pretty funny web series. Nikki Howard is a star at neurotic and scatterbrained humor, but also is a charmer with lots of wit and sharp one-liners. I enjoyed it a great deal and looked forward to each follow-up episode.
A version with all twelve episodes edited together, subtitled “Season One,” was uploaded, implying a sequel is in the works. Should that happen, I would love to see Chandler Juliet, Sami Parker, Siaka Massaquoi, Chuck Norris, and Vanessa St. Clair appear.
