'Batman Vs. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle Volume 1' Graphic Novel Review
The comic was released in 2015.
Comic book writer James Tynion IV and artist Freddie Williams II team up for this epic DC Comics and IDW Comics crossover with some of our favorite characters: Batman/Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Volume 1.
Starting off in New York City, the Leonardo, Raphael, Michelangelo, and Donatello are facing their enemies Shredder and General Krang. Suddenly, a portal opens flinging them into another dimension where they land in Gotham City.
Batman has his hands full with Ra’s al Ghul, The Penguin, and Killer Croc so when the TMNT and their mentor Master Splinter arrive, he does not know what to expect. At first, they think they are enemies, however, when Shredder and his army of Foot Clan ninjas arrive in Gotham, Batman and the Ninja Turtles have to work together to save two cities from different dimensions from a dark force.
It is no wonder that this graphic novel made the New York Times bestseller list. It brings together two iconic comic book franchises together in perfect cohesion. Unlike usual Batman crossovers, such as Grendel and Spider-Man, they don’t pretend these characters are briefly in the same universe. They use the nature of several villains to cross dimensions for a cowabunga good time.
I had so much reading this series and was even more excited when they produced a paperback graphic novel soon after. The artwork and the story work perfectly in sync. Definitely grab this one for your collection.
