Warner Media might have released their own anime-styled adaptation of J.R.R. Tolkien‘s ‘Lord of the Rings‘ with ‘The War of the Rohirrim,’ but there is not a lot for fans of Middle-Earth to look forward to.
You can explore outside Middle-Earth to find heroic battles, giant monsters, magical items, swords, and more! Especially if you explore anime. Obviously, none are as good as LOTR, but there are so many titles to explore in this style, you can find heroes being heroes and watch them take down the bad guys.
In no particular order, here are 5 Anime For ‘Lord of the Rings’ Fans:
RADIANT
Based on the French comic from Tony Valente, the Japanese production studio Lerche brings to life the story of Seth and his friends as they search for “Radiant,” the mysterious home of monsters called Nemeses that have been plaguing Pompo Hills.
BLACK CLOVER
This one is based on a manga written and illustrated by Yūki Tabata. It tells the story of Asta is a young orphan who dreams of becoming the “Wizard King” of the Clover Kingdom. There is just one problem: he has no magic powers, though he has the Five-Leaf Grimoire. His adopted brother Yuno, gets recruited into a prestigious magical knight squad, but Asta gets recruited to the Black Bulls, a group of oddballs, rejects, and weirdos.
Yona Of The Dawn
Princess Yona faces a coup when her cousin murders her father and forces her to go on the run. Her only hope is to rally the four dragon warriors with the help of her bodyguard so she can reclaim her kingdom.
FRIEREN: BEYOND JOURNEY’S END
Many years after defeating the Demon King, the Elf Mage Frieren returns to find her former human companions older. After the passing of her good friend, she embarks on a journey, recruiting the human mage Fern and warrior Stark for the quest.
FAIRY TAIL
The anime is based on a series written and illustrated by Hiro Mashima. It follows the wizard Lucy Heartfilia in Earth-Land, the newest member of the wizard guild Fairy Tail. She is joined by the dragonslayer Natsu (seen above), his cat sidekick Happy, the ice user Grey, the magical knight Erza Scarlet, and a host of other members as they fight monsters, demons, evil wizards, rogue dragons, and so much more.
While nothing can compare to Lord of the Rings, perhaps these shows will tide you over as we await to hear news of what is coming in regards to Middle Earth.
