This verse contrasts those who “go on ahead” or “transgress” by abandoning Christ’s doctrine, with the profound spiritual reality that such a departure severs fellowship with God, from those who abide in the teaching and enjoy an intimate relationship with both the Father and the Son.

Across centuries, English Bible translators have rendered this compact yet powerful verse with striking clarity, each version highlighting nuances of warning, stability, and relational blessing.

Bethel Music released a live version of their rendition of “Agnus Dei,” sung by Jenn Johnson with her husband Brian Johnson performing the guitar. It is a cover of the Michael W. Smith version of the song.

This is a truly inspiring song. It captures the majesty and humbleness of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. While many have covered this song, Johnson’s voice is just unmatched. She has raw singing talent, and it truly shows here. We are blessed that she uses that talent to bring praise to God. She definitely hits it out of the park, showing just how passionate she is for the Gospel.

The accompanying band is just as excellent. Every instrument and backup singer brings their best to create an incredible version of this iconic hymn.

The Bible verse inspires the original “Agnus Dei” hymn in John 1:29, which says, ‘The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, “Here is the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world! (HCSB)’”

Pope Sergius I introduced a version of the original hymn, which was sung in traditional Latin in AD 692. It would go through several iterations written by Lutheran and Anglican lyricists throughout the years.

It would explode in popularity when Michael W. Smith did a new version of “Agnus Dei” as a song for his album Go West, Young Man. He would incorporate imagery from Revelations 5:12, “They said with a loud voice: The Lamb who was slaughtered is worthy to receive power and riches and wisdom and strength and honor and glory and blessing! (HCSB).”

Smith’s version became a staple of worship albums, covered by various artists, including Gateway Worship, Donnie McClurkin, and now, Bethel Music.

Skillet released a live version of their song “Unpopular,” which was released as a single ahead of their studio album Revolution. The music video was filmed in Valdosta, Georgia.

I have to applaud lead singer John Cooper in this song. The lyrics speak of constant criticism, hinting at being online, some of it becoming hateful. “Whatever,” the band says. They choose to stay strong in their faith in our Almighty God. We need more songs like this, exhorting Christians not to listen to the noise and to stand firm in their belief in Jesus. This song does it very well. It has compelling lyrics and a solid beat, making it an excellent addition to your playlist.

This live recording was impressive. Skillet sounds amazing live. Cooper’s voice echoes throughout this version, and the musicians are just as excellent. It is rare for Christian singers to sound so authentic live, but they do. They bring it all together for one epic finale.

Happy Easter! What does this holiday mean to Christians?

The Christian holiday known as Easter, or Resurrection Sunday, commemorates the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, as described in the New Testament. This event, occurring on the third day following His crucifixion, forms the cornerstone of Christian faith, affirming victory over sin and death (1 Corinthians 15:14–17).

While the term “Easter” is used in English-speaking contexts (and similarly “Ostern” in German), many Christians prefer “Resurrection Sunday” to emphasize the theological focus on Christ’s bodily resurrection. The English name “Easter” likely derives from Old English “Ēastron” or a related term for the spring season or month (Eosturmonath, corresponding to April), as noted by the Venerable Bede in the eighth century. Although some historical sources speculate a connection to an Anglo-Saxon figure associated with dawn or spring, scholarly consensus views the name as tied to seasonal timing rather than direct pagan derivation in a way that compromises the holiday’s Christian meaning.

In most languages, the celebration is called Pascha (or equivalents), directly linking it to the Hebrew Passover (Pesach), during which Jesus was crucified and rose.

Central to orthodox Christian belief is the affirmation that Jesus Christ, the eternal Son of God, was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. He lived a sinless life, taught the Kingdom of God, was crucified under Pontius Pilate, died, and was buried. On the third day, He rose bodily from the dead, appeared to His disciples, and ascended into heaven, where He is seated at the right hand of the Father.

Following His ascension, Christ sent the Holy Spirit at Pentecost, as He promised (Acts 1–2). The Holy Spirit indwells believers, empowers them for holy living and witness, convicts the world of sin, and actively works in the Church and the world today.

The Bible is regarded as the inspired, authoritative written Word of God, revealing humanity’s fallen state apart from divine grace and presenting Jesus as the supreme demonstration of God’s love and sacrificial atonement (John 3:16; Romans 5:8). Through His life, death, and resurrection, Christ exemplifies perfect love and provides the means of reconciliation with God.

Christians are called to gather in fellowship, engaging in corporate prayer, worship, the study of Scripture, and mutual edification to grow in knowledge of Christ and live out the gospel in community (Hebrews 10:24–25; Acts 2:42–47).

These convictions are not contingent upon agreement from all people. Regardless of differing views, the commitment remains to worship and follow Jesus Christ, who triumphed over death, hell, and the grave. This resurrection hope assures believers of His unending love and their secure relationship with Him (Romans 8:38–39).

Contemporary Christian artist Carman, may he rest in peace, dropped his second album in 1983. It was named after the third track titled “Sunday’s On The Way.” It was released via Priority Records and featured eight other tracks. It would be the first of several hits for Carman.

With Easter coming soon, I thought I would mention this song. It is an eccentric, fun, and exciting retelling of the death and resurrection of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, from the perspectives of the devil and the grave. The devil calls the grave on the phone, being reassured that Christ is still in the grave. However, when Sunday comes around, they both get a surprise.

This song lit up my childhood, and I loved how it celebrates Jesus's triumph over death, hell, and the grave. It is certainly easy to see why this song was a hit with its memorable lines and catchy beats.

When asked during an interview which song represented him as a singer, Carman replied, “Well, I think the one that would probably be the most reflective of who I am as a man, as my own personality, would probably either be ‘Sunday’s on the Way’ or ‘The Champion,’ something like that. Because it incorporates storytelling, worship, and scriptural Truth done in music pictorial imagery, something that’s really different, hopefully creative.”

He continued, “If it’s to represent me as a Christian, which probably would be more what I want to represent as, I think that’s more important, would be “Serve the Lord.” That pretty much spells out my faith. And the commitment that I have for the Lord. So if I had to put one song in a vault that would represent my life and industry, it would be ‘Serve the Lord.’”

Jesus Christ is the King of Kings. When he first rode into Jerusalem, he did not come riding a horse as a conqueror or a chariot as an emperor. He rode on a donkey, a symbol of humbleness. As he rode, the crowd laid their coats and palm branches in the road as they yelled, “Hosanna!”

“Hosanna” is a word that means, “deliver us.” They were calling on Jesus to save them, and He did on the cross.

The EDM band HouseNatic collaborates with former Pussycat Doll member Kaya Jones for the song “Genesis.”

I will be honest, I am not too familiar with the Afro House genre of music, but I found it to be easy on the ears. It had a good rhythm and rhyme to it, making it feel melodic. There was a joy in how it was composed, bringing in HouseNatic’s unique flavor of musical flair.

Lyric-wise, I thought it was pretty good. The song discusses going back to a simpler time, to the start of it all. I found it to be endearing and passionate in how its story is told. It rings true.

Jones has a beautiful voice, no doubt about it. Her vocals pair excellently with the music and lyrics of this song. She delivers each line with her usual passion, projecting with ease. The HouseNatic team does a good job as well. They provide vocals as well, blending well with Jones, creating a pitch-perfect experience for the listener.

While browsing for a new book at my local bookstore, one of the increasingly rare gems in our digital age, I wandered into the Bible section. The sheer variety was striking.

Looking for a particular edition? You’ll find the classic King James Version (KJV), the New King James Version (NKJV), the New International Version (NIV), the English Standard Version (ESV), the Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB, now updated as CSB), J.B. Phillips’ New Testament in Modern English, and many more.

It’s not just the translations; there are editions tailored for men, women, military personnel, first responders, children, and beyond. And the colors! Black, blue, pink, brown, green, red, metallic… You name it. The options can feel overwhelming at first.

I see this abundance as a genuine blessing. There’s an ongoing, sometimes heated debate about Bible versions and paraphrases, and it’s wise to research and choose thoughtfully. But it’s overly narrow to insist that only one English (or Latin) translation carries God’s special anointing. God’s Word has been faithfully preserved across many faithful renderings.

Personally, I enjoy drawing from several: the classic ESV for its balance of readability and accuracy, the more poetic TPT, the fresh perspective of Phillips’ modern English, and especially the historic Geneva Bible… the beloved translation the Pilgrims brought to American shores.

As Christians, having access to different translations and paraphrases allows us to encounter Scripture in fresh ways. One version might highlight a nuance another overlooks, not twisting the meaning but illuminating the depth of the Holy Spirit’s inspiration in the original texts. This variety deepens our appreciation for God’s Word rather than diminishing it.

Think about it: God loves us so profoundly that He gave us the Bible—a clear, enduring revelation of Himself. Many other faiths rely on vague or absent scriptures, but our God has written us a love letter, offering a glimpse into His heart and His immense care for us.

“16 All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, 17 so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.” - 2 Timothy 3:16-17 (NIV)

So the next time you’re searching for something meaningful to read, I encourage you: get back to the Bible. Consider picking up a new translation or paraphrase that challenges you to see God’s truth anew. Approach it with wisdom and discernment. Yes, do your research, but open your heart to a fresh perspective on just how deeply God loves you.

Terrian released a new single, “Oasis of Hope,” which she co-wrote with collaborator Madison Ryann Ward and producer Joel Setien. Goatee Records released it.

There is no doubt about it. This is a truly moving song. Terrian sings about getting lost in the world, but finding hope by kneeling before the Cross. It is a wonderfully written song that shows her devotion to our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. I love how the lyrics capture her passion for God and how He saves us.

Of course, her voice is stunning. She sings with an incredible talent that is unmistakable. I applaud how she uses it to spread the Gospel. Likewise, Ward is equally talented. She also delivers in the voice department. The two of them were an excellent collaboration, working together with perfection.

I also enjoyed the music video. It was simple and worked with the vibe of the song. The two ladies are singing in a studio with glowing lights, capturing the moment. It was thoughtful and helped get the message of the song out.

Marriage is a wonderful thing. It is under attack from academia, Hollywood, politicians, and the corporate press. When you pursue marriage in the Biblical sense, you will find that it is loving and joyous. As the writer of Hebrews notes, it should not be defiled by abuse, infidelity, or nihilism.

On this Valentine’s Day weekend, let us work on making marriage something beautiful.

Award-winning Gospel singer and hip hop artist Lecrae released the new single “My Everything.” It was released to coincide with 116 Day, or January 16. It is a day when Christians are reminded of Saint Paul’s message in Romans 1:16, which ties into Lecrae’s Texas-based hip hop collective 116.

To be frank, I am not at all a fan of rap and hip hop. It is just not my jam or favorite genre. However, several performers are talented, including Lecrae. He is incredibly talented, and I enjoyed this single.

It has some interesting lyrics, talking about how there are times when God wants us to simply wait while his plan unfolds. It also celebrates how unashamed Christians should be with their faith. It is a good reminder, and while it is not as memorable as some of his earlier work, it is still solid.

I also thought the arrangement of the music was well done. Lecrae’s voice is backed up by a Gospel choir, who go perfectly with the instruments. They combine to make a sleek song and one that you can jam to. I also really liked the album art. It looks pretty cool.

Fans of Lecrae will definitely enjoy this release. It has a good message, solid lyrics, and excellent music.

It is a wonderful song that truly expresses his love for our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. The lyrics tell of rejecting any counterfeit idol and instead giving it all to God. In short, it is a longing and desire to grow closer to Jesus while rejecting the fake things of this world. The live performance is certainly moving, allowing you a glimpse into his heart for the Lord.

The arrangement is also very lovely. It has simple instruments and vocals passionately rendering the lyrics. You can tell that Wilds wanted to develop a song that captured everything listed above, and I think he did. I found it to be excellent and well-made, capturing the love for God that Wilds has.

Katy Nichole released a music video for her hit song “Have Your Way,” which was featured on her 2025 album Honest Conversations. Nichole wrote the song with Ethan Hulse and Jeff Pardo.

Nichole has described the song as a “surrender” to God and His plans. She opens up about how it is hard to let go, but that it is a necessary thing to let the Lord within her heart, soul, and mind. She discusses how this leads to blessings and a future beyond her own wants or desires. It is a lovely song and one that will certainly be a light on your playlist.

The award-winning singer cited Roman 8:28 as an inspiration. The scripture reads, “We are confident that God is able to orchestrate everything to work toward something good and beautiful when we love Him and accept His invitation to live according to His plan. (VOICE)”

I also like the music video. It is simple, showing Nichole singing on a rocky oceanside. The simplicity works for the endearing message of the song, showing the beauty of God’s creation while singing about His promises.

Little is known about the man called Jabez. Whole books have been written about his small cameo in the Bible. Whoever he was, he prayed to God, asking that he would be blessed, and his prayers were answered.

It is an Old Testament moment that shows the power of prayer and its importance in the life of a believer. It is a model of how we can humbly ask things from God.

Here are 10 Translations of 1 Chronicles 4:10-

“And Jabez called on the God of Israel, saying, Oh that thou wouldest bless me indeed, and enlarge my coast, and that thine hand might be with me, and that thou wouldest keep me from evil, that it may not grieve me! And God granted him that which he requested.” - KJV

It would be remiss of me not to mention Charlie Kirk. The founder of Turning Point USA was a bright spot in this cruel world of American politics. Anderson was right in pinpointing Kirk and his tragic death as a focal point in this movement.

I do disagree with some of the names he puts forward as “unlikely figures” in leading this Jesus Revolution. Popularity and even inquiring minds do not necessarily equate to helping usher in a new revival.

However, I agree with the overall premise. We are seeing politicians, commentators, and even Hollywood stars getting bolder in proclaiming their faith. That is a good sign and one that Anderson targets in his arguments. It was a solid case and one that I found compelling.
